REsponders
Responder sign up is on the Troupe Registration form. Responders can be troupe directors or other qualified adults.
Welcome, and thank you for considering becoming a responder for our students’ performances at the PA State Thespian Conference!
For those new to the role, a responder is an adult who watches a performance with the aim to help the students in the production recognize their strengths as well as their points of growth for their next show.
Responders must be able to commit to watch the entire show AND meet with the cast, crew, and adult advisors immediately after the performance, in most cases. In the event of a recorded performance, the response will be at an appointed time that will be communicated to you. Ensure your troupe will have another chaperone available to your students during the time you will be responding.
*If a school has requested to be adjudicated that means your response evaluation will be part of their qualification to participate in the International Thespian Festival this summer.
Once you complete the volunteer form which will be emailed shortly, we will be assigned to respond to a show. At Conference, it is very important that you check in with the Responder Coordinator(s) at the main registration desk with plenty of time before the show begins to pick up your Responder clipboard and forms. Please sit in the auditorium, indicate that you are in the audience when asked by the STO. watch the performance, take constructive notes, meet with the other responders to decide on an All-Star Cast member, and meet with the cast/crew of your assigned show. After the meeting, please return the clipboard and forms to the registration desk. At the end of Conference, your form will be forwarded to the director/school of the production.
Thank you again for your active participation in our Conference. Your donation of time and expertise is a fundamental part of the students’ educational experience at this event.
Please read these documents carefully to familiarize yourself with the forms you will use and some helpful tips from several past responders:
